FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1: What is the Supplementary Evidence Packet?

At Varsity Briefs, we understand that debate topics are not stagnant. The arguments people run greatly change over the course of the month or two we spend debating it. Therefore, we make sure our customers are prepared for a constantly changing meta with the Varsity Briefs supplementary evidence packet.

On the first several Thursdays of every topic, we release updates to the supplementary evidence packet based on feedback from the community. The updates are posted on the updates group for a given topic, which can be found here. Only those who purchased the brief are eligible to join the updates group.

We may not release an update every Thursday. Near the end of each topic, our editors begin to focus all of their efforts on preparing the initial brief packet for the following month. Nevertheless, we ensure that our work throughout the month will keep you more than prepared for anything you face in round.

2: Why am I not getting emails from Varsity Briefs?

If you are not receiving emails from Varsity Briefs, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Did you purchase the brief for this topic?

  2. Did you enter the correct contact information when you purchased the brief?

  3. Did you enter a school-affiliated email when you filled out our contact form? (Sometimes school admins will block unfamiliar domains, preventing us from reaching you)

  4. Did you check your spam inbox? (If we were sent to spam, please select the "report not spam" button in your inbox so it doesn't happen again)

If you are unable to solve the issue by yourself, email our support team at outreach@varsitybriefs.com. We will do everything needed to ensure you stay up to date on the prep we do for you.

3: Why didn't my suggestion get prepped out?

If you submitted a response to our feedback form located on the 'share your thoughts' page of our website, we appreciate your contribution to the debate community. However, we receive a lot of helpful feedback every week and cannot prep out evidence in response to every suggestion we get.

We try to select the most commonly appearing suggestions to put into our weekly updates to the supplementary evidence packet, so just because your idea wasn't reflected doesn't mean it was a bad suggestion, In fact, there's a good chance it will show up in a future update, so keep checking your email!

4: Why doesn't Varsity Briefs make LD resources?

Our editors come from primarily public forum backgrounds and can only produce so much evidence at a time alongside their college course loads

That isn't to say we will never produce resources for Lincoln Douglas debate, but we would have to expand our team before that becomes feasible.

If you are a successful Lincoln Douglas debater and would be interested in working for Varsity Briefs, feel free to email us at outreach@varsitybriefs.com to get the discussion started!
